U1 Ultra Titanium Pocket Folding Utility Knife with Ceramic Blade

Awesome little folding utility knife/holder! Love all things Ti, so had to get the Ultra of course. Matches all the other Ti tools from Olight/Oknife/Olife, so one more for my collection, yes , please! The slim profile makes it easy to add to my EDC carry pouch without taking up too much room. I have room for an Otacle D1, an Olight i5r EOS, an Olight whistle, an Olight Butterfly Pry Bar, and the B1 EDC pen.

To allow "toolless" blade changes, Oknife replaced the traditional flush-mount screw with a finger screw. However, fingers cannot generate enough torque to keep the blade tight. Instead of reverting to a standard Torx screw, they doubled down and bundled the knife with a proprietary tightening wrench. This defeats the original selling point: it still requires a tool, but a custom one that can only be obtained from Oknife.

Also, because the thumb screw head must be large enough to grip, it has a wide diameter and protrudes far from the knife’s body. During deep cuts this protrusion pretty much snags 100% of the time.

Separate issue: thumb studs are unfortunately common nowadays, but they're a terrible opening solution. One reason (of many) is that they will snag if you try to cut or pierce something using the back part of the blade where they're located. The knife already has one of the best opening mechanisms, a flipper tab, so they should have left off the snag-prone thumb studs.

On the positive side the price on this well-manufactured titanium knife is very reasonable. Also, flipper tabs and button locks are probably the two fastest and most ergonomic opening and locking mechanisms on modern knives, so it's nice to have them here. Finally, the ceramic blade is great: very sharp, and with much longer edge retention than steel.

Really good quality. How i wish the U1 ultra comes with hex drive too but that will make it slightly bulkier. I also opt for titanium because of my line of work at sea. Flicking of flipping mechanism is smooth and am glad I can be positively sure that the blade is secured properly unlike some other brand.

Much better quality than I've expected. Excellent knife.
